Posture
One should be aware of one's posture as this is how others will read you and react.
- If you stand tall with the back straight - self confident
- If you stand 'with a curved back and lowered gaze-a feeling of inferiority
- If you lean towards someone during a conversation - interest in the conversation or on the person.
- If you lean away from someone during a conversation - disinterest or un-involvement.
- Relaxed Posture - favorable attitude and status.
- When both your arms are folded across the chest - protecting yourself from an unfavorable situation.
- If you are face to face with another and your arms are folded across the chest - disagreement.
- A partial arm barrier i.e. holding onto one arm at the elbow - lack of self confidence or a stranger to the group, Women tend to disguise this by gripping items like a purse (for protection).
- If you cross your legs and arms during a conversation - withdrawn from the conversation. It also indicates displeasure with partner.
- If you stand with legs and arms closed - defensive;
- If your legs are uncrossed and feet are placed together - neutral..
- If your ankles are locked - defensive closed posture or negative emotion/ attitude.
- If your hands are behind the back and you are standing slightly off centre from the speaker - submissive.
- If your trunk and legs are straight but your head is turned from the speaker or you are supporting the head with the arm - interest is fading.
- If your arms and legs are uncrossed - open.
- If you are leaning the head and trunk to one side - agreement.
- If your arms and legs are crossed - disagreement.
